Former East County resident Roy Edwin Orton died Wednesday, May 15. He was 60.
Military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland.

Marianne Sam Hiebert

Longtime East County resident Marianne Sam Hiebert died Sunday, April 28, in Clackamas. She was 69.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Mountainview Christian Church, 1890 N.E. Cleveland Ave., Gresham.
Sam was born May 5, 1943, in Portland to Jack and Jean (Dudgeon) Hune, the second of four children. She graduated from Sunset High School in 1961.
Sam married Marv Hiebert in 1978, and the couple moved to Corbett. In 1991, the couple moved to Troutdale.
A member of Alcoholics Anonymous for more than 40 years, Sam was a popular speaker for audiences at home and abroad. She was a staunch advocate for women.
During the past 20 years, Sam and Marv traveled the world.
Sam is survived by her husband; sons, Michael Barnes and Scott Galbreath; sisters, Sharon Roso and Bette Jo Prickett; and brother, John Hune.
Gresham Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
