Mildred Clarice Olson

June 8, 1918 - May 7, 2013

Longtime Corbett and Gresham resident Mildred Clarice Olson died Tuesday, May 7, in Gresham. She was 94.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Zion United Church of Christ.

Mildred was born June 8, 1918, in Ada, Minn., to George and Jensine (Nesby) Browersfield.

On June 18, 1939, Mildred married Otto Olson. While living in Minnesota, she worked as a nurse and a midwife. The family moved to Corbett in 1948, where Mildred helped Otto with his logging business.

Mildred was survived by husband, Otto, who has since died on Sunday, May 13; sons, Dennis and Rod Olson; daughter; Carol Pimentel; sister, Geraldine Jallen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Gresham Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. The family suggests contributions to Adventist Hospice.

Otto Olson

Jan. 1, 1914 - May 13, 2013

Longtime Corbett and Gresham resident Otto Julian Olson died Monday, May 13. He was 99.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Zion United Church of Christ.

Otto was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Baudette, Minn., to Ole and Janette (Blegen) Olson. He was raised and educated in Northern Minnesota.

On June 18, 1939, Otto married Mildred Browersfield. The family moved to Corbett in 1948, where Otto had a mechanic’s shop and a logging business.

Otto is survived by sons, Dennis and Rod Olson; daughter; Carol Pimentel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Gresham Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. The family suggests contributions to Adventist Hospice.

Glenn Everett Hoeth

May 5, 1925-May 23, 2013

Gresham resident Glenn Everett Hoeth died Thursday, May 23. He was 88.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Gresham Memorial Chapel.

Glenn was born May 5, 1925, on the family farm in Coon Valley, Wis., to Otto and Emma (Nicolai) Hoeth. He was one of nine children.

Glenn graduated from school in LaCrosse, Wis. He was honorably discharged as a private first class from the Marines in August 1945.

Glenn married Joyce Laffe on Nov. 11, 1950. He worked many jobs during his lifetime, starting at Boeing as a machinist and retiring as a plant carpenter.

He could often be found either in his wood shop or camping and fishing with his family.

Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce. He is survived by his daughters Loralei Johnson, Carol Hoeth and Dawn Butler; two sons-in-law; two grandchildren; and his grandchildren’s spouses.

East County resident Dennis B. Kolbo died Thursday, May 23. He was 72.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Gresham Memorial Chapel.

Dennis was born June 21, 1939, in Minot, N.D.

Reba Hambelton Bean

Reba Hambelton Bean

Reba Hambelton Bean, a resident of Gresham, died on May 23, 2013 in Gresham. She was 87 years of age.

Reba was born on January 25, 1926 in Gainesville, Missouri and was the daughter of John and Ola (Ingram) Hambelton. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1944 and on August 1, 1945 she married Davis R. Bean in West Plains, Missouri.

Davis and Reba Bean owned and operated a Grocery Store from 1945-1960, where Reba helped as the weekend cashier and bookkeeper. In 1962 they moved to Portland and in 1965 to East County where she worked for Oregon Bank as a teller. She later retired when her husband fell ill. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Reba enjoyed shopping, having lunch with her friends, traveling, trips to the beach and her annual casino visit with her daughter. She also enjoyed her Soap Operas. Family was very important to Reba. She simply adored her daughter and 2 grandchildren. She was a member of Mt. View Christian Church.

Reba is survived by her daughter; Janet Burnett of Gresham and sisters; Thelma Davis of Portland and Deloris (husband, Jack) Hobbs of Ozark, Missouri along with two grandchildren; Angela (husband, Zeb) Pribeagu and Christian Burnett. Her husband, Davis and brother Harold both preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Reba to the Salvation Army.

Harriet Scales

Longtime Sandy resident, and former business owner, Harriet Scales died peacefully at her home in Boring on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was 85.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Firhill Memorial Cemetery in Sandy on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.

Harriet LaVonne Gleason was born on April 9, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa. At the age of 6, the family moved to Oregon and settled in the Boring and Sandy areas. Shortly after graduating from Sandy High School she was united in marriage to Wally Scales. They made their home in Sandy and began their family. In 1967, Harriet and Wally built, owned and operated T.J.’s Restaurant. After selling the business in 1972, they moved to Boring and made their permanent home. Harriet was co-owner of Decker and Scales in Sandy for many years.

Harriet was an avid golfer and was on a bowling league. She loved the warm weather and the sunshine, flower gardening, spending time with her friends and especially her grandchildren.

Surviving is her daughter Janet Scales- Vinge of Boring; her son, Tom Scales of Ashland; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Jack in 1985. She is preceded in death by her husband in 2003 and her son, Jack in 1985.

Josie Ann Jett

Josie Ann Jett

Estacada resident, Josie Ann Jett died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at OHSU Children’s Hospital. She was 7 years old.

A celebration of her life will be held 1pm, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at The Estacada Ranger Stadium.

Josie Ann Jett was born July 28, 2005 in Gresham, Oregon to Scott and Jenny (McDaniel) Jett. She lived in Estacada with her family until her death.

She was a very strong and brave girl…..

Survivors include her parents Scott and Jenny Jett of Estacada; sisters, Jessie Jett and Natalie Stroup,….. grandparents….. several aunts, uncles and cousins.
