Wood Village resident Margaret Isabell Leydig died Friday, May 24. She was 85.
No services will be held.
Margaret was born April 6, 1928, in Miami, Okla., to George and Ruby (Frey) Brown. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and cooking.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and son, George Meyer. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Meyer; sister, Fern Martin; two brothers, George Brown and Tom Brown; two grandchildren, Christa Harrison and Heather Stevens; and one great-grandson, Derrek Stevens.

Donald Place
June 23, 1927-May 28, 2013
Gresham resident Donald Place died Tuesday, May 28. He was 85.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the Troutdale House, 411 E. Historic Columbia River Highway.
Donald was born June 23, 1927, in Iowa to Earl and Hazel Place. He grew up in Shellrock, Iowa, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Donald married Barbara Ann Madsen in December 1947 in Gresham. He worked as a carpenter, helping build Mt. Hood Community College, Barlow High School and the Sam Jackson and Marquam bridges.
Donald raised quarter horses and served as a judge for youth horse shows. He was an avid sports fan.
Donald is survived by his wife; children, Ron Place, Claudia Place and Karen Curry; sisters, Delores Krai, Evelyn Elliott and Dianne Nager; and granddaughter, Stacie Curry.

Crosby Clenrick Naylor
Sept. 14, 1916-May 2, 2013
Gresham resident Crosby Clenrick Naylor died Thursday, May 2. He was 96.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Gresham Manor.
Crosby was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Seattle to Clenrick and Irene Naylor. He graduated from Washington High School in 1935. From February 1938 until his discharge Aug. 15, 1945, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Crosby attended Northwestern School of Law and two insurance schools, working as a State Farm Insurance agent. In 1946, he married Corinne Estelle Talley in San Francisco.
Crosby lived in Gresham for 60 years and retired in 1985. He enjoyed gardening and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne Estelle Naylor; son, Ed Naylor; and niece, Marilyn Duke-Woodside. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Duke; and niece, Janice Duke Pindell.

Dennis B. Kolbo
June 21, 1939-May 23, 2013
Longtime Troutdale resident Dennis B. Kolbo died Thursday, May 23. He was 73.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Gresham Memorial Chapel.
Dennis was born June 21, 1939, in Minot, N.D., to Albert and Marie (Westom) Kolbo. He graduated from Benson High School and studied architectural drawing at Madison High School Community Center.
On July 17, 1959, he married Rhonda Irvin in Portland. Dennis learned the auto body trade from his dad and worked at East Side Auto Body, his dads business. He and his brother Mark bought the company, with Dennis retiring in 2006.
Along with being a member of the Inliners Car Club and the Gresham Elks Lodge No. 1805, Dennis enjoyed fishing, cars and spending time with his grandchildren.
His sister, Doloris Leath, preceded him in death. Dennis is survived by his wife; daughters, Kimberly Kolbo-Minto and Suzette Kolbo; brother, Mark Kolbo; and two grandchildren.

Ella Mae Wills

Gresham resident Ella Mae Wills died Friday, May 24, in Gresham. She was 82.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home.
Ella was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Thomas, Okla., to Ernest and Eva Ruth. She married Edwin Ed Wills on March 26, 1950.
In 1959, the couple bought an ice cream store at Southeast 218th Avenue and Stark Street, which they called the Double Decker. They offered 34 flavors of homemade ice cream and sold hamburgers, five for $1.
They also operated the Thumb Hole Café and Oregon Drive Café. From 1991-2007, Ella worked at Pic-A-Deli Catering. She was later a food demonstrator at Winco grocery store.
Ella enjoyed bowling, sports, especially the Oregon Ducks, baking and gambling.
She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Maxine Williams, Ron Ruth and Frank Ruth; and a grandson. Ella is survived by her three children, Robert James Wills, Karen Ann and her husband Ron Younce, and Charles Dale and his wife Mary Wills; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Glenn Everett Hoeth

Gresham resident, Glenn Everett Hoeth passed away on May 23, 2013 in Portland. He was 88.
Mr. Hoeth was born on May 5, 1925, to Otto and Emma (Nicolai) Hoeth on their family farm in Coon Valley, Wisconsin. Mr. Hoeth was one of nine children and the last survivor.
Mr. Hoeth attended and graduated from school in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from January 1945 and was honorably discharged as a Private First Classman in August 1945. Glenn met his wife, Joyce Laffe, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. They later married on November 11, 1950.
The Hoeths started their family of two daughters in 1954 and moved to Oregon in 1956, where they eventually had a third daughter.
Glenn had a widely varied career working many jobs during his life time. He worked for Boeing as a machinist. He later retired from Boeing as the plant carpenter. Glenn was very devoted to helping people. He could often be found either in his wood shop or fishing and camping with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, in September 2009. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Loralei and Larry Johnson of Gresham, Oregon, daughter Carol Hoeth of Troutdale, Oregon and daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Greg Butler of Stanfield, Oregon as well as two grandchildren and their spouses.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 1 p.m. at Gresham Memorial Chapel. Private service will be at Douglass Cemetery, Troutdale.
Remembrances can be made to the Oregon Humane Society.
