New book explains dyslexia, ADD from personal perspective
Mark Wood recently released an iBook that he hopes will promote common understanding of attention deficit disorder (ADD), Attention deficit hyper-activity disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia.
A Troutdale resident, Wood is a severe dyslexic, who spent six years in special education programs for his learning disability.
His book, The Fuzzys, is based on the concept that people with dyslexia, and the majority of those with ADD/ADHD, see colored static similar to the snow on a television when the signal is lost. Identifying the specific colored static a dyslexic sees, Woods says, allows for the use of tinted glasses to eliminate the static for most and enable them to learn to read. Wood also provides tips to help dyslexics and those with ADD/ADHD learn how to focus on one thought at time.
"The Fuzzys" is available for download on iTunes.
