Kevin Charles Hamann

June 30, 1961-May 25, 2013

Former East County resident Kevin Charles Hamann died suddenly Saturday, May 25. He was 51.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Grace Community Church in Gresham.

Kevin was born June 30, 1961, to Roberta June (Holler) and Delmar Charles Hamann, in Burlingame, Calif.

He graduated from Sandy High School in 1979 and married Jackie Layng Nov. 26, 1983, in Gresham. Kevin owned KTM of Gresham for a time and most recently worked for Boeing Portland as an aviation machinist team leader.

Kevin enjoyed motocross riding, football, fishing, hunting, camping and restoring Jeeps. He was a member of Cornerstone Church and the Oregon Old Timers MX.

Kevin is survived by his wife; parents; daughter, Janine Saldivar; son, Mitchell Hamann; sister, Jerilyn Rathke; and one grandchild.

Randy Al Burback

May 19, 1984-May 29, 2013

Sandy resident Randy Al Burback died Wednesday, May 29. He was 29.

A service was held at Sandy Funeral Home on Saturday, June 1.

Randy was born May 19, 1984, to Vincent and Cindy Burback, in Bend.

His family lived in Bend until moving to Milwaukie when Randy was 8, then to the Boring-Sandy area where he finished school.

As a skilled carpenter, Randy worked for his family’s concrete business beginning at age 15. He married Anna Ramirez on July 27, 2007. The couple had four children.

Randy was preceded in death by his brother, Eric Burback.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Burback; children, Shantaya, Justin, Ian and Jeremiah Burback; parents, Vince and Cindy Burback; brother, Jacob Burback; best friend John Siffrin; grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Emily Louise Zandell

Emily Louise Zandell

Emily Louise Zandell, longtime Gresham, Oregon resident, died Friday, May 24, 2013 in Gresham.

She was born September 3, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, to William and Marie Rank. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942.

She married her High school sweetheart, Warren George(Pete) Zandell in Sept. 1942. After Pete received his discharge from the Army Air Corps, they settled in Bremerton, WA with their two daughters, Lynda Lee and Nancy Ann. In 1952 the Zandells moved to Gresham, Oregon when Pete Zandell and Darrell Fleming bought what became Fleming and Zandell Oil Company. In addition to the Oil Company, the Zandell’s had a travel agency. Louise loved to travel. They visited many places throughout the United States and International destinations. Louise and Pete were long time members of the Gresham Elks Lodge. Her husband, Pete died in 1988.

Louise and her family joined St. Luke Episcopal Church in 1961 where she continued as a member until her death, most recently serving on the Altar Guild and assisting with a variety of church functions. At one time, Louise was on the board of directors of St. Jude’s Home in Sandy, Oregon for the Society of St. Paul. Until her death, Louise was a volunteer at Mt. Hood Hospital participating in a variety of charitable works.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Pete Zandell in 1988 and daughters, Lynda Garlock 2004 and Nancy Moore 2001

Survivors include brothers, William Lee Rank of Boise, ID and (the Rev. Canon) Andrew Rank of San Diego, CA.

Louise has four grandchildren; Kellie Pierson of Sandy, OR, Michelle Curtis of Bend, OR, Keri Martin of Redmond, OR and Dr. Lance Moore, D.C. of San Diego. Louise has eight great grandchildren. Two son in laws; Thomas Moore and Ted Garlock.

Funeral: Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00am at Gresham Memorial Chapel; reception following.

Burial will be private at Douglass Cemetery Troutdale
