Detectives are looking for a shooter after at least a dozen of rounds were fired at a Gresham apartment complex Monday night, police said.

One person was transported to a local hospital after they suffered a graze wound, said Officer Adam Baker, a Gresham Police spokesman.

“There’s at least one apartment that has at least one, what appears to be, a bullet hole in the wall,” he said.

The shooting was reported at 11:51 p.m. Monday, June 10, near the intersection of Northeast 178th Avenue and Glisan Street.

Multiple people called 9-1-1 to report shots fired. One person reported hearing as many as 17 shots, police said.

The shooting happened in the parking lot at the Sunset Station Apartments and is the second one Gresham police are investigating in as many days. On Sunday, June 9, Andreas Prince Jones, 21, of Portland died after being shot in parking lot of the Rockwood Station Apartment complex.

When police arrived at the scene of Monday night's shooting, they noticed a car parked in the middle of the parking lot, but whether it was involved in the incident is unknown, Baker said. During the early stages of the investigation, officers found at least one hole in the wall of an apartment where one person was grazed by a bullet. That person was treated by medics and taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

In the wake of Monday night's shooting, police evacuated some units at the Sunset Station Apartments while checking the area for the suspect and damage, police said. A TriMet bus was used to shelter those residents.

Gresham Police Chief Craig Junginger said his office will work with other police agencies to address the gang issues ”plaguing” the metro area.

“I am alarmed at the brazenness of the shootings of the last two days in our city,” Junginger said. “Our detectives and gang officers are working around the clock to solve the most recent incidents."

No one is in custody, but detectives have detained four people for questioning. They were seen running from the parking lot and into one of the apartments immediately after the shooting.

“At this point, nobody has been charged, nobody has been arrested,” Baker said. “We have a couple people we’re talking to.”

Detectives and gang officers have been notified and are trying to figure out what may have motived the shooting.

“We’re using our resources to keep an eye on everything,” Baker said.

Jennielle Roache, the mother of a 16-year-old boy, said she heard the shooting and ran to check on her son and his friends.

“It’s really scary,” she said. “I now have to be extra protective of my son to make sure that

when he goes out he’s fine.”

Roache said she had a sit-down conversation with her son about the shooting and gang violence.

“It’s really hitting home to him now,” Roache said. ”He’s actually really scared.”

Northeast Glisan Street was shut down for nearly seven hours as police collected evidence from the apartment complex.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Gresham police tip line at 503-618-2719.
