Edgar Beaver

Feb. 2, 1940-June 7, 2013

Gresham resident Edgar Beaver died Friday, June 7, in San Benito, Texas. He was 63.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Grace Community Church, 800 S.E. Hogan Road, Gresham.

Gresham Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gresham Optimist Club or Gresham Hospice.

Amanda Elizabeth Jeter

April 13, 1979-June 5, 2013

Former Gresham resident Amanda Elizabeth Jeter died Wednesday, June 5. She was 34.

Memorial service plans are pending. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Wallace V. “Wally” Lund

June 18, 1930-May 28, 2013

Corbett resident Wallace V. “Wally” Lund died Tuesday, May 28. He was 82.

No services will be held.

Wally was born June 18, 1930, in Vermillion, S.D., to Harold and Doris (Beckensten) Lund. The family moved to Oregon in 1935, where he lived most of his life.

After attending Parkrose High School, Wally served in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

Wally owned Lund Construction Co. for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, bingo, swap meets and spending time with his family. Wally also loved traveling with his wife, Roberta, the love of his life for 61 years.

Roberta preceded Wally in death, along with his brother, Norm, and sister, Deloris Miller.

Wally is survived by his children, Steve, Bob, Tami and Rich; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 330 S.W. Curry St., Portland.

Leslie Jean Mehrlich

March 3, 1959-June 4, 2013

Gresham resident Leslie Jean Mehrlich died Tuesday, June 4. She was 54.

A celebration of Leslie’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd., Gresham. 

Leslie was born March 3, 1959, in Salem to Howard and Barbara (Downen) Stevenin.  She grew up in Vancouver, Wash., and lived in Gresham for 31 years.

Leslie worked 18 years at Gresham Skateworld and as manager for the last nine years.

She is survived by her companion, Jamie Coleman; daughters, Megan and Rachel Mehrlich; sisters, Michele Sonnenberg and Janine Owen; and Lucy, her Yorkshire terrier.

Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lyman Willard “Bill” Coombs

Dec. 9, 1932-June 7, 2013

Boring resident Lyman Willard “Bill” Coombs, 80, died Friday June 7, surrounded by family and friends.

At Bill’s request, a celebration of life will be held later.

Bill was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mary Louise (Frost) and Wendel Howe Coombs. He had nine brothers and sisters.

Bill married Barbara Stinnett in Reno, Nev., in 1964. They made their permanent home in the Sandy area, where Bill worked for Reynolds Aluminum, car dealerships and Iseli’s Nursery.

Able to fix or build just about anything, Bill was also self- employed at Paul’s Welding and owned B&B Emporium in Sandy with Barbara.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Aaron and Ron Ryan Coombs; and three grandchildren.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family suggests memorial contributions to Providence Hospice.
