Corbett puts up three runs in the seventh inning to beat No. 8 Colton
CORBETT Coltons softball team was three outs away from handing No. 4-ranked Corbett its first loss of the season, but the Vikings wouldnt manage to get even one.
Trailing by two runs heading into its final at-bats, the Cardinals pulled out their biggest weapon the bunt. Lindsay Miller put her bat over the center of the plate and made contact, spinning the ball down five feet in front of the plate, allowing her just enough time to beat a throw down the first-base line.
The Cardinals converted successful bunts to lead the games first two innings, as well.
Millers sprint to first started a string of five straight hits for Corbett, which tied the game when Brooklyn Detherage sent a first-pitch line drive into center field. Two batters later when Simone Ballard watched back-to-back pitches sail high to draw a bases-loaded walk that gave Makenna Stafford a free pass home with the winning run.
