The Mt. Hood Community College Theatre department will perform One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, a play based on the novel by Ken Kesey, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, May 9–11, in the Studio Theatre.
The play is an all-student production directed by Caitlynn Didlick, a 2010 graduate of Gresham High School.
Cuckoos Nest is based on the mistreatments (including shock therapy and lobotomy) of mental health patients. Kesey combines sadness and comic relief in the story set in Oregon.
McMurphy, the lead character, is played by Matt Rowning; Nurse Ratched is played by Sydney Hope; and Chief Bromden is played by Drew Pierce.
The crew includes Anthony Ceglie as stage manager, Maddy Connors as assistant stage manager, Chris Wilkerson as lighting director, Teddy Alverson as sound director, Tiffany Demello as the designer and Raquel Calderon as costume designer.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults and may be purchased online at mhcc.edu/theatre, or at the box office.
Box office hours are noon to 2:30 p.m. Monday and Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Thursday. The box office will be open approximately 30 minutes before each performance.
