Art exhibit

Mt. Hood Community College's visual arts students will present their work in a juried exhibition May 13 to June 6 in the Visual Arts Gallery on the east side of the campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St.

This event showcases ceramics, drawings, printmaking, painting, jewelry, metals, sculpture, 2-D and 3-D design, digital images, watercolors and calligraphy.

A reception will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the gallery. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and it's closed weekends and holidays.

Music Mondays

Gresham's Center For The Arts Foundation will offer free Music Mondays from July 1 through Aug. 26 at the Arts Plaza, Northeast Third St.

Shows will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.each Monday except for July 15 and Aug. 12, when performances will start at 6 p.m. featuring music aimed at young children with dancing for the first 45 minutes of the evening.

Music Mondays will feature food and beverage vendors (non-alcoholic) and art/artisan booths.

Performers include Sonny Hess with a classic blues sound; The Undercover Band playing top 40 and danceable covers; the Shannon Tower Band with original American rock; and a favorite to kick off the season, Americana band Wayne Richards and Southern Nights. The full schedule will be posted to gcfta.org in mid-May.

Music Mondays is made possible through grants and individual contributions. Major support for this year’s season comes from the city of Gresham Arts & Culture grant program. Metro East Community Media will videotape and broadcast the music.
