Leach Botanical Garden, 6704 S.E. 122nd Ave., is kicking off a series of summer events at the garden.

n “Leach Garden Arts,” a workshop focusing on digital photography in the garden, is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15. This workshop is perfect for beginners who own a point-and-shoot camera or who are comfortable with a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR). Participants will spend the morning exploring techniques including macro, wider compositions and how to capture the essence of a space. During the follow up on a big screen, the class will look critically at images and discuss applying software and making finished selections.

Bring any digital camera and fully charged batteries. If you have a tripod or special lenses or filters, be sure to bring them along. Joshua McCullough, a professional garden photographer and owner of PhytoPhoto  (www.phytophoto.com), is the instructor. Registration is required and costs $40, or $35 for Leach Botanical Garden members.

n “Fillers, Thrillers & Spillers,” with special guest Kym Pokorny of The Oregonian, is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26. Pokorny will share her secrets for creating pots with style.

While you enjoy a glass of wine and delectable provisions from Vibrant Table Catering, Pokorny will build several pots with different themes and leave you with plant lists and tips for your own pots. You may even go home with one of Pokorny’s creations.

Afterward, enjoy music and refreshments on the East Terrace, informal visits with Pokorny and guided strolls in the garden.

Space is limited and reservations are required. Cost is $35 for nonmembers and includes a special garden membership; $30 for members.

n “Drinkable Botanicals,” with mixologist Lydia Reissmueller, is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24. Reissmueller, from Tender Bar Cocktail Catering, will teach participants about herb inspired cocktails and the art of botanical infusions. Participants will be able to try their hand at making their own infusion to take home.

Sample both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, then enjoy music and delectable provisions from Vibrant Table Catering on the East Terrace, informal visits with Reissmueller and guided strolls in the garden. Registration is required.

Cost is $35 for non-members and includes a special garden membership; $30 for members. Space is limited. To register for any of the “After Hours” offerings, visit www.leachgarden.org, click on Classes & Events — Garden Events, or call 503-823-1671.
