Carl R. Soderquist a resident of Saddle Brooke, Ariz., with former East County ties, died Friday, June 7, at his home. He was 83.
No services have been scheduled at this time.
Carl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Soderquist; children, David Soderquist, Anne Main and Joseph Soderquist; grandchildren, David and Katherine Main; and sister, Doris Gallagher.

Mildred Caroline Taylor
March 7, 1915-June 10, 2013
Mildred Caroline Taylor of Boring died Monday, June 10. She was 98.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the GSS Fairlawn Village Community Center, entrance 2, 1280 N.E. Kane Drive, Gresham.
Mildred was born March 7, 1915, in Paint Creek, W.Y.
She married Lester Taylor in Asotin, Wash., in April 1933. They moved to Orofino, Idaho, where she worked at White Pine Lumber Company.
During the war, Mildred worked as a welder on aircraft carriers at Portlands Willamette Iron and Steel Shipyard.
She owned and operated a service station on Orient Drive with her family, along with growing a variety of filberts in their orchard. She also worked for Chase Bag.
Mildred enjoyed baking, gardening and The Statler Brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Gerry Taylor Hiscoe; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Jim Jianni
June 23, 1937-June 5, 2013
East County resident Jim Jianni died Wednesday, June 5. He was 75.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 633 S.E. Stark St., Portland.
Jim was born June 23, 1927, in Passaic, N.J., to Antonio Gianni and Concetta Intrabartolo.
In 1939 his family moved to California, where he finished school. In October 1956, he noticed a cute new girl at work, Mary. They were engaged in January and married June 9, 1957. The couple had two sons, Tony and Jimmy.
In the late 1970s, Mary started attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall with the Jehovahs Witnesses. Jim always went with her and was baptized on June 21, 1995.
California was home until Tony talked his parents into moving to Oregon.
Jim was often found smiling, driving his garden tractor with the wagon attached.
He is survived by his wife; sons; and three grandchildren, Meghan, Lucas, and Isabella.
