A man whose body was found in the Columbia River near Vancouver on Wednesday, Jan. 2, has been identified as a Gresham resident.
Bradley James Lynch, 50, of Gresham and Teddi Ann Watanabe, 51, of Vancouver died of hypothermia after their kayak accidentally turned over, ruled the Clark County Medical Examiner's Office.
Watanabe's body, which was dressed for kayaking complete with a buoyancy vest, was found in the river near the Interstate 205 bridge on Friday, Dec. 28. Later, a two-person kayak washed up on the eastern tip of Government Island and a car belonging to one of them was found at a launch site on the Oregon side of the river. Then two days into the new year, Lynch's body was found.
Nobody saw the kayak turn over but investigators believe the accident happened close to Christmas.
