A Gresham man is behind bars on allegations of firing a BB gun at his girlfriend.

Albert Gerrard LeRay, 45, is being held at the Multnomah County Inverness Jail on $15,000 bail for allegations of domestic violence menacing, fourth-degree domestic violence assault and second-degree domestic violence criminal mischief. He also is being held on $50,000 bail for being arrested on a Clark County warrant for domestic violence harassment for allegedly making death threats, according to jail records.

Gresham police responded to a call at 11:58 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, that a man was shooting a gun at a woman in an apartment complex parking lot in the 173000 block of Northeast Halsey Street, said Lt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham Police spokesman. A few minutes later, officers arrived and found the victim in a car in the parking lot. She was not injured.

They also found a man matching the suspect’s description in the parking lot. Police tried to contact the man, but he refused to talk to officers and went back into the apartment he shares with the victim.

Officers talked to the man on the phone, “but the conversations were short and sporadic,” Grandjean said. More officers from the Portland Police Bureau and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office were called in to help. At about 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, police found the man in the apartment and arrested him without further incident.

Detectives also found the gun reportedly used and discovered it was a BB gun, Grandjean said.
