Two passengers were killed when a twin-engine aircraft en route for the Troutdale Airport crashed Saturday, morning, 19 miles southeast of Ely, Nev., said Allen Kenitzer, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.
The individuals on board the airplane have been identified as Jerry and Corrine Nothman, an 82-year-old married couple from Mesa, Ariz, according to the White Pine County Sheriffs office.
The FAA is in the early stages of an investigation and the cause of the Saturday, Dec. 15, crash is still unknown.
The White Pine County Sheriffs office is also trying to determine why the couple was traveling to Troutdale.
According to early reports, local authorities reached the crash site about an hour after the accident and reported finding victims, but were unable to immediately identify how many. The plane crashed in a mountainous area 10:15 a.m. after leaving from Mesa.
